4. Commands Displaying Additional Screens

There are many commands that result in the display of additional screens. Some of these screens may require additional information. After submitting these commands, WebLUIS will display a screen from which you set appropriate values and/or enter info rmation. These commands may be selected from the Command Options, from the toolbars, or from the record displays.

From the Options Box

Many commands require additional information. These commands include:

COMMAND
RESULT
Email MarkedAfter marking records, you must select the Email Marked command from the Command Options.

A new screen display will appear. You will first set the format of the record(s) you would like to send (brief, long, technical). Then you must enter your complete email address (jdoe@sus.edu). You may enhance your email by changing the Subject line and/or adding an Optional Note. Press the SEND button.

A message box appears telling you how many records were sent. Records remain MARKed until you click the UNmark ALL command.

Print MarkedAfter marking records, you must select the Print Marked command from the Command Options.

A new screen will appear. You will first set the format of the record(s) as you would like them printed or saved (brief, long, technical).

When you press the Submit button a new screen will appear displaying your records in the format you requested. Records remain MARKed until you click the UNmark ALL command.

To print, use your browser's print function at this time.

If you would like to save your records, use your browser's "Save as" function to download your record(s). Your record will be saved in HTML format.

Return to your search results by clicking the red return arrow at the top of the page.

ILL RequestIf your home institution does not own an item, you may request the item from your home institution's Interlibrary Loan. You must have your 14-digit library card number to begin the request process.

Note that you should have Java and JavaScript enabled on your browser for this function to properly process.

The first screen that appears after choosing ILL Request will prompt you for your 14-digit library card number. After entering your library card number, a screen will display requiring you to enter more information. Your current home address, phone number, and email address will display and you may edit this information (however, this will not update your institution's library or registrar's office information). You may want to enter your current email in the proper field. This allows the system to send you a copy of your request via email.

Then you will be prompted for some information about the requested item. If you chose the ILL Request command from a record, this information may be partially filled in. You may need to fill in other required fields. Required fields are clearly marked. Your request cannot be processed without these fields. Required fields include: a service fee you are willing to pay (most institutions do not charge, you may enter free), a delivery location, and copyright statement.

After pressing the SUBMIT button, you will return to your previous screen (either an item record or the first ILL Request screen). A message informing you that the request has been sent will display. Click OK.

You may read your home institution's Interlibrary Loan policies at any time by clicking on the "Library ILL Policies" toward the bottom of the display.
