If you know the name of a database (e.g. MLA Bibliography) or a database service (e.g. FirstSearch) you want to use, simply:

1. Type the first few letters of the name. 2-3 letters is recommended and is usually enough to retrieve the link (or a very short list including a link to the desired database). If you know an abbreviation used for the database name, that may also work.
2. Select your university (to retrieve all databases available to you).
3. Click "Submit".
4. IMPORTANT: If you do NOT select a university, you may or may not retrieve a link to the database you want on your first try. If it happens to be part of the "Shared SUS Collection" (resources licensed for use at all SUS universities), you will.

  If you want to browse an alphabetic list of all databases that begin with a particular letter, simply do the same as above, but type only the one letter. After browsing your results, you can use your browser's back button to return and type another letter, or you may select "WebLUIS Home" from the Database Locator toolbar to return to the search screen to type another one.

  If you are a member of the general public connecting from outside the library, limited number of databases (plus all SUS library catalogs) are available. To list all that are available to you,

1. Leave the search box empty.
2. Select "General Public (outside library)"
3. Click "Submit".
4. NOTE: License agreements restrict use of many databases to current SUS students, faculty and staff - or to others when in the library.

  If you want to list all databases available at your university, simply select your university and click Submit (without typing anything in search box).

• HINT: Since this search may retrieve several hundred hits, it is generally not the best approach. It's almost always better to search by typing at least one letter in the search box as described above.
• The list will be in approximate alphabetic order, and will display 25 at a time.
• You can browse the entire list a screen at a time by clicking the arrow.
• You can also type a number in the JUMP box at the bottom of each screen to move further ahead.
